Why coloring pages?
They’re easy, fun and have tons of benefits for kids like:
☑️ Improves fine motor skills
☑️ Builds cognitive abilities
☑️ Practices color recognition
☑️ Helps kids relax
☑️ Sparks curiosity
And these coloring pages also come with 6 creative ideas of how to use them. Because as a busy mom, I know the constant struggle of needing time and needing activities for my preschool kid.
And the best way to save time creating activities? By repurposing the ones you already have.
So, in all of my printables, I always include extra ways to use the activities. To maximize what you already have. Saving you time & energy (without having to brainstorm what to do next).
My Favorite Coloring Supplies
Remember opening up a brand-new box of crayons? It was my *favorite* thing as a kid. And here are some of my 4 year old son’s most-used coloring supplies.
- Gel Crayons: Deep, rich colors with a satisfying mark.
- Tempera Paint Sticks: A no-mess way to paint.
- Twistable Crayons: No sharpening needed. Has a nice glide.
- Colored Pencils: A must-have in our art stash.
- Cardstock Paper: My go-to paper that elevates coloring but it’s cheap enough to use it on coloring sheets (and fits most printers).
Create A Reusable Coloring Book with a Menu
If your kiddo is getting bored with coloring sheets, sometimes you need a twist to keep things interesting.
My favorite way to add intrigue?
Create a coloring book menu! It’s reusable (just wipe the marker off) and keeps all of the pages together in a book! Perfect for travel or when you’re out and about.
You’ll need:
- Menu Cover. I love this set because it has spots for 12 pages and comes in a pack of 2.
- Markers. I’ve found all types I’ve tried will wipe off with water/towel, but love these washable ones.
Then just add your coloring pages to the menu and color! Wipe it off with a wet towel and it’s ready to use again. (We use menus for lots of activity sheets and my son loves having them in the book format!) It’s handy to have at least 2 books on hand for different types of activities.
